As part of the Science High Admission Preparation, Enhancement, and Upskilling Program, the UB Science High School – Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD), through the Science High Ambassadors and in partnership with the UBSHS Student Parliamentary Government (SPG) and the UBSHS Youth Development Training (YDT) Body, warmly welcomed the newest members of the Science High family for School Year 2026–2027. A total of 76 incoming Grade 11 students participated in the activity last June 29, 2026, while 117 incoming Grade 7 and Grade 8 students joined the activity last July 2, 2026.
The welcoming activity featured an exciting Amazing Race, where the new students explored the UB Science High School campus by completing interactive challenges at different stations. Each station was carefully designed not only to familiarize the students with the campus but also to introduce them to the unique practices, values, and learning culture that define the Science High experience.
To further immerse the students in the school’s traditions, the manongs and manangs introduced the rich culture and longstanding customs of the Science High community. The session concluded with a lively Scavenger Hunt, allowing the new students to apply what they had learned while discovering the distinct traditions that make the Science High family unique.
The program culminated in an energetic showcase of YDT cheers performed by the higher-grade students, followed by a heartfelt surprise— the letters from the new students’ parents. This meaningful segment underscored the strong partnership among students, parents, faculty, and staff in supporting every learner as they begin their Science High journey.
More than an orientation, the event served as the new students’ first glimpse into the supportive and vibrant community that they will call home over the coming years. Through the camaraderie of the student body and the exemplary leadership demonstrated by the Science High Ambassadors, UBSHS SPG, and UBSHS YDT Body, the activity embodied the values of excellence, service, leadership, and belonging that define the UB Science High School experience.
As these young scholars embark on a new chapter of academic growth and personal development, the entire Science High community proudly welcomes them and looks forward to witnessing the remarkable achievements they will accomplish together.
