UB Science High School opens its doors for Japanese Exchange Student

Seiji Ozawa, a Japanese exchange student under AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines, will be studying in the University of Baguio Science High School under the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand for 10 months as part of an International Exchange Program. 

On August 18, Dr. Thea Suaco, principal of the said institution, introduced Seiji to the UBSHS faculty. After which, he had his arrival orientation and school orientation. He will be hosted by the Abarientos Family, who are in their second year of hosting an AFS student.

During his introduction, Ozawa mentioned that he is looking forward to studying in UB Science High School and creating new friends during his stay in the Philippines. He will be joining the various school events and activities such as Great Minds Meet, YDT Sportsfest, and more.

UB Science High School is in active participation and collaboration with AFS Philippines. AFS Intercultural Programs is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. 

Last year, UBSHS hosted one student from Italy and sent seven students to Japan and Indonesia through the Asia Kakehashi Program and Mary Grace Scholarship. 

This academic year, the school will host one student from Japan; Seiji Ozawa, and is preparing to send four students to Japan and Malaysia.

The UBSHS family warmly welcomes Seiji and they are looking forward to him having a fulfilling AFS journey.
