In another proud moment for the University of Baguio Science High School, two exceptional Scouts—Mandy Joie Abarientos and Carl Andrei Moreno, stood out during the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Scout Officials for a Day (SOFAD) 2025 held in Baguio City. This prestigious event offered young Scouts the unique opportunity to step into the roles of local government leaders and experience firsthand the responsibilities of public service.

Representing UBSHS with excellence, Mandy Joie Abarientos was selected to serve as the Acting Vice Mayor of Baguio City, while Carl Andrei Moreno assumed the role of City Councilor. Both Scouts demonstrated outstanding leadership, integrity, and a deep passion for community service, embodying the very essence of Scouting.

During her day in office, Abarientos presided over meetings and actively participated in policy discussions, showcasing confidence, professionalism, and a strong sense of civic duty. Her poise and dedication impressed both her fellow Scouts and the city officials who witnessed her in action. Meanwhile, Moreno took part in council deliberations, contributing meaningful insights and youth-driven perspectives on community issues. His thoughtful participation reflected his readiness to engage in governance and his enthusiasm to help build a better society.

The SOFAD 2025 program highlighted how Scouting shapes young individuals into responsible citizens and capable leaders. It provided participants with valuable insight into local governance, teamwork, and the importance of serving others with compassion and fairness.

UBSHS faculty and Scout leaders expressed immense pride in the achievements of Abarientos and Moreno, noting that their success reflects the school’s ongoing mission to cultivate well-rounded students who lead with both heart and purpose. Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to their fellow Scouts, proving that true leadership begins with character, service, and a commitment to making a difference.

The participation of Mandy Joie Abarientos as Acting Vice Mayor and Carl Andrei Moreno as City Councilor in SOFAD 2025 stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, to prepare young people for a lifetime of leadership, community involvement, and service to others.
