The University of Baguio Science High School triumphed at the Regional Schools’ Press Conference (RSPC) held in Tadian, Mountain Province, from March 31 to April 2. The school claimed two group victories, three individual awards, and several school paper awards in both English and Filipino.
Competing against six provinces and two cities in the region, the school’s Online Publishing group and Collaborative Desktop Publishing group secured first place, qualifying for the National Schools’ Press Conference in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, from May 19 to 23.
Guided by their adviser, Dr. Roselle Aniceto, the Online Publishing team included Stephanie Belingon, Charles Panit, Bea Uy, Ronalyn Albero, and Jacob Gaerlan. Meanwhile, the Collaborative Desktop Publishing team is composed of Audrey Ydio, Jasserie Olsina, Ariane Dy, Hyun-ah Noh, Lance Mocnangan, Samantha Claveria, and Kyla Fontanilla.

In individual competitions, Jarizz Bergonia finished 2nd place in Editorial Cartooning, Justin Rafanan took bronze in Mobile Journalism, and Karjen Binwag secured 5th in Column Writing.
Also among the victories were the school paper awards, where Gazette and Alluyon, led by Dr. Veronica Bito and Mr. Angelo Manis, respectively, ranked among 39 other participants.

Gazette, the English paper, earned 6th in Layout and Page Design, 6th in the Editorial Page, and 8th in the Newspage. The Filipino paper, Alluyon, placed 5th in Pag-aanyo ng Disenyo, 5th in the Pahinang Balita, and 7th in the Pahinang Agham at Teknolohiya.
Though new to their categories, members of the two groups proved their competence. From their first attempt at the division level to the nerve-wracking regionals, they now gear up to face 17 other regions at the national press conference. Their exceptional achievements show the dedication of the students to building a bright future through journalism.
