Lively performances, compelling narratives, and raw talent filled the halls of the University of Baguio Science High School during its annual Literary and Music Festival on February 27, 2025. This year’s theme, “Rhythm and Roots: The Art of Youthful Narratives,” celebrated students’ creativity and storytelling prowess through various competitions and performances.

From intense quiz and debate battles to soulful vocal performances and electrifying and heated dance showdowns, the festival offered a platform for students to express themselves through different forms of art and literature. Competitions included the spelling bee, quiz bee, debate, vocal solo and duet, puppet show, radio drama, fractured fairytale, declamation, short film, lip sync battle, hip-hop dance battle, and the much-anticipated battle of the bands.

An electrifying showdown between the 11th and 12th graders.

Before the grand showdown, an initial output screening was held on February 24, 2025, giving students a sneak peek at some of the most anticipated entries. Short films, fractured fairy tales, puppet shows, and lip-sync performances were showcased for eager audiences. Alongside the screenings, students enjoyed additional activities such as a photo booth, karaoke sessions, a silent art bid, and snack stalls, adding to the festive atmosphere. Following the eliminations, only the top three performers in each category advanced to the live finals, setting the stage for an exhilarating main event.

As a celebration of musicality, creativity, and literature, LitMus 2025 was spearheaded by Music Club adviser Jerrel Panayo, Dance Club adviser Dean Aguado, and English and Debate Club adviser Roselle Aniceto. They were joined by Local Government Minister Danielle Abarientos, Finance Minister Sheanne Cabantac, Deputy Information Minister Stephanie Belingon, and Deputy Internal Affairs Minister Khloe Ricaforte, whose exceptional leadership played a key role in the event’s success. Their dedication and teamwork earned overwhelmingly positive feedback from both the faculty and students, making the festival a truly memorable experience.

More than just a competition, LitMus is a celebration of youthful expression, where voices are heard, stories are shared, and the spirit of camaraderie thrives.
