The Student Parliamentary Government of the University of Baguio Science High School recently participated in the Global Youth Ambassadors Model United Nations (GYAMUN). Held from August 28 to August 30, 2026, this prestigious gathering brought together 150 delegates from across the Philippines to discuss the theme: “Shaping Tomorrow Amidst Turmoil: Rebuilding a Fractured Global Order towards a New Era of Multilateralism.”
At the Coyeesan Plaza Hotel, the conference got underway. His Excellency Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino and Mayor Benjamin Magalong were among the leaders who shared their perspectives during the opening ceremony. Participants were moved by their motivational words, which urged them “to mend what is broken, to be mended by the work of doing so, and, ultimately, to build the next bridge.”
Model UN 2026: Shaping the Future Global Youth Ambassadors
These principles shaped the following days, reminding young delegates that diplomacy is not just about debate, working papers, and amendments, but also about constructive, collaborative bridge-building. In an era of rapid global change and complex diplomatic challenges, young people are the architects of the future. This gathering emphasizes fostering global citizenship and critical thinking.
Under the guidance of their Faculty Adviser, Kylle C. Pistula, five students represented UB Science High School. The delegates, Czerena Anne Mendoza, Dominique Santos, Lorenzo Paolo Martin, Janne Harriet Soleil Liquete, and Juvi Sandrea Dizon, represented the Commonwealth of Australia, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Canada, the Republic of Colombia, and the Central African Republic, respectively.

On the second day, delegates participated in a series of simulations. UB Science High School youth representatives navigated complex international policy while serving on key committees, including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
They drafted resolutions and proposals addressing international crises, defended their countries’ interests, and offered workable solutions to systemic problems. Beyond understanding geopolitical environments, this conference phase required the capacity to compromise and negotiate under duress.
The final day challenged the delegates’ abilities through a high-stakes crisis simulation. Organizers presented a hypothetical global emergency, requiring all delegates to think quickly, synthesize information rapidly, and collaborate across committee lines to pass a comprehensive resolution. This exercise highlighted GYAMUN’s core objective: to transform students into proactive problem-solvers skilled in the art of diplomacy.
The event concluded with a recognition ceremony that rightfully celebrated the dedication and intellect of the UB Science High School delegation. The students brought home several accolades, reflecting their hard work:
- UNDP Committee: Lorenzo Paolo Martin (Best Position Paper) and Dominique Santos (Verbal Commendation)
- UNHCR Committee: Janne Harriet Soleil Liquete (Best Position Paper)
- WHO Committee: Juvi Sandrea Dizon (Best Position Paper)
Beyond the awards, the real victory is the experience gained. By engaging with 150 other delegates and grappling with the realities of a fractured global order, these students have proven that they are ready to contribute to a new era of multilateralism. Their journey at the Global Youth Ambassadors Model United Nations is a testament to youth-led dialogue and a promising indicator of the leadership they will continue to demonstrate in the years to come.
